Weekly Encouragement from Pastor Tim
Several prayer requests and a slight change of plans...
Dear KCBC family,
The last couple of weeks for me weren’t the worst ever, but they weren’t the best either. Instead of spending two weeks of vacation doing lots of fun things with my family, I spent the first week in bed with Covid-19 and the second week trying to get over a stubborn cough.
Positively, I didn’t have to worry about preaching, and I had some extra time to read and meditate, but there’s sure been a lot of troubling things going on in the news lately. It’s enough to make a person prone to anxiety even more anxious, but thankfully I had God’s word to redirect me.
In the last couple of weeks, I’ve read and reread Psalm 46 multiple times and especially the part that says, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” As I lay in bed spending too much time reading the news, oh how I needed to be reminded of this! God is present, and he’s in charge!
So, I thought instead of continuing on through the book of 1 Corinthians, I’d take a one-week detour and share a sermon from Psalm 46 this Sunday that I “worked on” while I was sick. Hopefully, “it’s just what the doctor ordered,” and you’ll find this passage of Scripture encouraging, too.
For the gospel,
Pastor Tim
Prayer Requests
Pray for Jim Willenbring, who lives in the Kittredge area. He writes, “My brain is still dying. I'm deaf, have double vision, bouncing eyes, and can't feel much; I need an elderly walker. I know I could be better tomorrow if that's in God’s plan. I'm still doing what I can and not depressed staying at home. I'm walking the streets in my town with a walker picking up trash on the side of the roads, and sitting outside in front of the Kittredge General Store saying hi to everyone! But it would sure be nice to get better! Thanks!”
Pray for Bob Ruesch, who got rear-ended in a car accident and is feeling sore.
Pray for Jim Purdy, who had a stroke and was taken to the hospital. He is expected to be released soon.
Pray for Richard Travis, who is still having issues with his lungs.
Pray for Douglas Hollums, whose RV broke down and is facing expensive repairs.
Pray for Pat Stengle, who is moving closer to family. This is her last Sunday with us.

KCBC Bylaw Committee
Purpose:
The purpose of the committee is to examine KCBC's bylaws in order to increase our ability to fulfill its object, which is “The preaching of the Gospel to every creature; the edification of Christians through the teaching of God’s Word, and the promotion of spiritual fellowship among God’s people of like faith and purpose.”
Who:
Any member of KCBC may serve on this committee, and if you are interested in serving, don't hesitate to contact Pastor Tim. Of course, any person, member or not, is welcome to give input at any time.
Method:
The committee will compare and contrast KCBC’s Bylaws with Newel Community Church’s Bylaws (a Village Missions church) in order to make bylaw recommendations to the Board. Only the Bible and these two documents will be utilized.
All recommended changes to the bylaws must have 3/4 majority support of the committee.
Pastor Tim will serve as moderator for all committee meetings. A minimum of four (no more than six) members (including the Pastor) must be present to make recommendations to the Board. Fewer than four may meet together for discussion but may not make formal recommendations.
The committee will decide how often to meet, and monthly progress will be made to the Board by the Pastor.
Lord willing, in the middle of January 2023, or sooner, the Board will evaluate the committee's recommendations and then present any proposed changes to the members of KCBC for final approval at the Congregational Meeting.
YouTube Livestreaming
If you cannot attend worship services in person, we continue to offer a Livestream option but with a change. Instead of using Facebook, we are now using YouTube’s services. We hope this platform will allow us to reach more people and provide a better overall experience for those who watch online. Here’s the new link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCru5UDhNF-dJN1BlWXU4gYg/live. Be sure to click the “like” button and “subscribe” to the channel, as it helps others get connected with our church. In addition, all sermons from 1 Corinthians are available to watch at any time.
